CURRENT ISRID BYLAWS A current copy of the ISRID Bylaws is now available on the Minutes page in the Board section. RID Announces Degree Requirement Extension for Hearing Candidates for Certification "The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) announced today it will be extending the deadline requiring an associate's degree for hearing candidates for certification from June 30, 2008 to June 30, 2009. The one year extension will enable the national office to ensure that the proper procedures are in place to handle and assess alternative pathway requests (i.e., equivalent alternative criteria allowable in lieu of the educational requirements) ...." For more on the RID announcement, click here. Upcoming EIPA Deadlines EIPA testing will be held the following three weekends in Iowa during the 2008-09 school year. Registrations are now open and testing times are limited. If you need to retest prior to the licensing renewal (by June 30, 2009), I encourage you to register NOW. The cost is $250. Registration closes 30 days prior to the testing date or when all testing times are filled.

Our mission is to initiate, sponsor, promote, and execute policies and activities that will further the profession of interpreters of American Sign Language and transliteration of English.
Our Objectives are as follows:
The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID) uphold high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct for interpreters. Embodied in this Code of Professional Conduct (formerly known as the Code of Ethics) are seven tenets setting forth guiding principles.
Interpreters who are members in good standing with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. and the National Association of the Deaf voted to adopt this Code of Professional Conduct, effective July 1, 2005. ISRID members accept, support, and comply with the following Professional Code of Conduct. More details on this Code of Conduct is available in PDF format.
